I am commanded by the Army Council to forward the enclosed copy of a letter addressed to the Command Paymast er by the Colonial Treasurer, Hong Kong, transmitting a statement shewing the calculation of the Military Contribution for the year 1922,

I am to explain that no previous correspondence is traced regarding the item "Adjustment of exchange 2,451,834.66" included under Class IV of the deductions from the Revenue prior to the assessment of the Military Contribution. I am to ask whether your department is in possession of further information and if not to request that the Colonial Government may be asked to furnish a full statement of the circumstances in which this deduction is made.
